Welcome.

I’m a composer, songwriter, and interdisciplinary artist with over 20 years of experience writing music for opera, chamber ensembles, theater, and albums. My goal as a teacher is to help you develop your unique musical voice—whether you’re just starting out or preparing for advanced study.

What I Offer

Private Lessons in:

    •    Composition (classical/contemporary/experimental)

    •    Songwriting (folk, rock, art song, hybrid forms)

    •    Music theory & ear training

    •    Creative development & portfolio prep

All levels welcome. Ages 10+.

In-person in Pleasant Hill, CA or online via Zoom.

Lesson Options & Rates

    •    30 minutes – $50

    •    45 minutes – $75

    •    60 minutes – $100

Flexible scheduling available (weekly, biweekly, or as-needed).

Please give at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations.

About Me

I hold a Doctorate in Music Composition from the University of Texas at Austin and have taught privately, at universities, and in festivals for over a decade. My music has been commissioned and performed across the U.S., and my recordings have been featured by outlets including Pitchfork, The Huffington Post, The LA Times, and NPR.
